Piece created for a commemoration of 1916 and the loss of civilian life as part of it. The piece is constructed of wood and features buildings in Dublin which would have been around before 1916 Rising but which have since disappeared. These images were burnt onto the wood using a wood-burning tool.

UncategorisedSeries of videos filmed in Crete during an art residency in Lakkos. I spent my time there filming my surroundings and teaching myself video editing and painting a mural as part of the residency’s aim to help the locals and council see the value in the crumbling buildings in the old town Lakkos area.
It was during my time on this residency that my interest in composing music emerged as I grappled with the DAW within my computer to create soundtracks for the videos I’d created. Themes revolved around home and place, brought about by my reverse culture-shock of returning to Ireland after 6 years in Berlin and the (at the time) initial wave of migrants making the journey across the Mediterranean to Europe.

art archiveThese works saw a return to a painting style I’d been exploring before moving to Berlin – which were large florals painted in a flat graphic style with interweaving and tangled abstract shapes and forms. Similarly in these newere works the idea of entanglement, nature and unease runs through many of them, but now with the addition of people, animals and a fairytale atmosphere.
Murals
MuralsAfter graduating from NCAD I spent ten years working as a mural artist and specialist effects painter and interior designer in Ireland and abroad. The image below was created while on an Arts Council-funded residency to Crete, Greece and is part of the Lakkos project in Heraklion.
Mural in Lakkos area of Heraklion, Crete
Mural painting has a long tradition going back to Roman times. I have in the past painted murals and paint effects in homes, restaurants, bars and pubs, nightclubs and on the exterior of buildings. I am open to and welcome any enquiries here Below are old photos (of varying quality!) of some work I did many years ago.
Statue of Liberty Hand Mural
I have experience creating large scale murals both inside and outside on the exterior of buildings, on walls or in gardens, these can either be complex, detailed images, or more pared-down.
I’m also well-experienced in paint effects, such as faux marble, wood, faux painted plasterwork, mosaic and much more. As well as the above, I have completed hand-painted traditional sign-writing doing signs and lettering for various clients.
My skills with both hand-painting and using graphic design programs, means that I can, in consultation with my clients, come up with the perfect sketch, before embarking on the actual painting.
