The small drawings in boxes were part of the ‘My Fairytale Life’ exhibition in Berlin. Themes of hardship blended with the escapism blended with childhood fairytales ran through this series – psychological issues condensed into pictorial form.

After this series came large scale ink drawings/painting using Indian ink and acrylic paint on large sheets of paper in a similarly graphic, illustrative style to the box series.

The idea of drawing continued onto canvas canvas using shades of grey acrylic paint to create greyscale pencil-like marks with surreal animal-like creatures entangled among natural forms.

Piece created for a commemoration of 1916 and the loss of civilian life as part of it. The piece is constructed of wood and features buildings in Dublin which would have been around before 1916 Rising but which have since disappeared. These images were burnt onto the wood using a wood-burning tool.

Series of videos filmed in Crete during an art residency in Lakkos. I spent my time there filming my surroundings and teaching myself video editing and painting a mural as part of the residency’s aim to help the locals and council see the value in the crumbling buildings in the old town Lakkos area.

It was during my time on this residency that my interest in composing music emerged as I grappled with the DAW within my computer to create soundtracks for the videos I’d created. Themes revolved around home and place, brought about by my reverse culture-shock of returning to Ireland after 6 years in Berlin and the (at the time) initial wave of migrants making the journey across the Mediterranean to Europe.
